Performance Calculator

verify your system performance!

This is the fastest and easiest way to get a first idea in what shape your PV system is in. It's hard to tell how good your PV system is simply by looking at it. A performance check normally requires some special measurement equipment. Now the good news is that was yesterday. All necessary equipment is already available to you through the national weather satellite. The Performance Calculator provides the link that allows you to use the satellite just the way you need it.

You can determine the performance of your PV system simply by filling out this form. Absolutely no hardware is required. Your only investment is a little bit of your time.

Price: The service is free.

Notice: Please do not use this service during snow periods! For snow-covered sites, the validity of the results cannot be guaranteed.

Let's get started with the location of your PV system. You can get your geographical coordinates from this GIS web site entering your home address. Locations in the US have a positive latitude and a negative longitude. Please enter longitude and latitude in decimal degrees with three positions after the point.
Please provide some basic description of your PV system. Most important are the kW peak size, the tilt angle and orientation of your system. The kW peak size specifies the rated output of your PV panels. The tilt angle is the roof inclination in degrees from the horizontal plane. The orientation angle specifies how your system is oriented: North = 0, East = 90, South = 180, West = 270 degrees.
The following information contributes to the creation of a new database on PV performance serving the growing number of people who choose solar options based on factual knowledge. With your permission you authorize Think SunSmart to use your PV system data in a market survey of PV system performance. Requests will only be processed when the confirmation box was checked.
*I agree that my PV system data may be used in a market survey. I understand that the results of the market survey will be made public. I do not have any objection against the use of my system data in a market survey.
Yes, I agree
Now choose one month for which you want to check the performance. For this month you need to write down the kWh of produced electricity from your PV system display. Most PV system owners have such a display in their living room. If you do not have data for a full month, you can also specify a shorter time window by giving the first and last day.

Please submit now the request and include your contact email.
